You’re right. You’re not a freak, and I apologize if that’s what you take away from this. Let me clarify. I don’t hate any one. I don’t. For me, this is not a statement of bias. This is who I am. I am a white, successful, heterosexual male. My point in posting this is, as the notes on this image indicate, my demographic gets a lot of hate whenever we decide to actually declare we’re proud to be what we are. I don’t think any of the characteristics in the list are ‘bad’ traits. Variety is the spice of life! But look at the notes on this image and then compare this to a “I’m gay and proud” or “I’m black and proud” message. It seems the only people who are not allowed to be proud of who they are are white, successful, christian, heterosexuals.
Please, Tumblr, remember that we are people just like you. Most of us aren’t the bad guys people seem to think we are. I’m proud to be a white, successful, christian, heterosexual; not because that makes me better than others (it doesn’t), but because that’s who I am. Just like you should be proud to be whatever you are.

You know, you say “Most of us aren’t the bad guys people seem to think we are. I’m proud to be a white, successful, christian, heterosexual; not because that makes me better than others (it doesn’t), but because that’s who I am.”
Except what makes the writing on this image an assholeish statement and not, as you say, the same as someone saying “I’m gay and proud” or “I’m black and proud” is the fact that instead of just saying you’re proud of who you are, this image is DIRECTLY putting other people down in the process. This image IS SAYING THAT WHAT YOU ARE MAKES YOU BETTER THAN OTHERS.
The entire first two sentences of this are statements that are SOLELY badmouthing other people in order to position the person writing/posting it as somehow superior to the “depressed, atheist (!), COLOURED (!!!), pansexuals, nerds, otakus, freaks, weirdos who listen to “foreign music (why would this ever to anyone be considered a bad thing!?), study “liberal arts” (pffft!) and PRETEND to be awkward/a loner.” WHO THE HELL PRETENDS TO BE AWKWARD OR A LONER!? Some people ARE actually awkward and some people do tend to be loners…but like. Who is pretending to be those things?
Like…the last sentence (the statement of pride about “who you are”) isn’t that offensive on it’s own (but take the word “normal out, maybe), but with everything else on this it is incredibly offensive, because someone should be able to be proud of themselves without having to put everyone/everything else they are not down in order to feel superior in some misguided way.
Like. The people who are posting “I’m gay and proud” and “I’m black and proud” aren’t posting things that say they’re proud to be gay/black because they’re not a close-minded, judgmental, holier-than-thou, vanilla, boring, dick-wad who thinks they’re better than everyone else just because their skin is a certain color, they worship a fake dude and like titties.
